The history of drinking urine for therapeutic purposes dates back at least to the Holy Roman Empire when great urinal troths were erected in the public squares of each city-state for residents to both contribute to, and benefit from. Urine therapy in alternative medicine is the application of human urine for medicinal or cosmetic purposes, including drinking one’s own urine and massaging one’s skin, or gums, with one’s own urine.

In Islam, drinking one’s own urine of strictly forbidden no matter what; the Prophet Muhammad () told us that it is simply waste matter, and is filthy and impure (a Muslim can not pray if he has any on his clothes). However, an exception is made for animals that are halal for consumption based on some ahadith like the following:

Ibn ‘Abbas (actual Hashimi) narrated from the Messenger of Allah that he said: “The milk and urine of camels is a cure for those who suffer from (stomach) indigestion.” [Ahmad]

Camel urine mixed with camel milk is said to be therapeutic due to its chemical contents which have anti-bacterial, anti-fungus, and anti-cancer properties. Ibn Sina in his book Qanun al-Tibb stated his opinion that jaundice, dropsy, and intestinal swelling is curable by taking this mixture which can temporarily alleviate the pain.

When the Prophet (ﷺ) recommends camel urine for its medical benefits, we don’t resist his advice or his imperatives.

And as for some of the Shias who join the Hindus and other Kuffar in mocking Sunni Hadith about the benefits of camel urine: little do they know that according to their own narration the piss of an entire barn of animals is permissible for consumption.

People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

Fatwa of Sistani:

Ruling 2644. It is unlawful to drink the urine of animals whose meat is unlawful to eat. The same applies to the urine of animals whose meat is lawful to eat, even that of camels, based on obligatory precaution. However, there is no problem in drinking the urine of camels, cows, and sheep if it is for the purposes of medical treatment.

It is permissible to consume camel/cow/sheep urine for healing purposes according to numerous Twelver Shia narrations with multiple different chains of narrators.
